TEMPLE SUN STONE

This is a replica of the sunstones on the outside of the temple. We brought a little one home to ue a a book end. I just loved this trip.

This is another view of Joseph and Emma's original home. The largest addition was made by Joseph III. I just love the lovely garden.

AROUND TOWN

In Hannibal, Missouri, we did a little shopping. This is also where I do the traditional "fall down on vacation" routine. Yes, I skinned my knee as I do on every trip I ever take. The other members of our tour finally are warming up to each other. I tried to find out where Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer lived, but someone told me they were just make believe. Can you believe that?

This is the river boat dinner cruise we took down the Misissippi.

This is the general store. The pharmacy was in a lady's home. She'd mix up your medicine from the herbs growing in her garden. A lot of the restored homes are Bed & Breakfast hotels.

Community of Christ

These pictures are of the Community of Christ's Temple. They are the former RLDS Church. Any one can go in and mediate. When they perform marriages, they say, "until death do you part". Very interesting. They think the Sea Shell look is quite a selling point.

This is Brother Hartman Rector and me. He served in the 1st Quorum of Seventy and had a lot of great stories about the Prophets and 12 Apostles he served with.

This house has several additions on it and is where Joseph and Emma lived most of the time. Joseph SR and Lucy Mack lived in the log cabin part of the house.

Nauvoo the Beautiful

This is the Mansion House where Joseph and Emma lived. They didn't get to live here very long befor he was mayrtered. The little house below is the Bee House. Emma had Joseph and Hyrum secretly buried under it. She gave instructions for her burial to be near the corner of the Bee House. No one knew she was planning to be buried next to Joseph. The bodies were discovered later and given a proper head stone.

How do like my friends?

These are pictures of the Carthage Jail and it's visitors' center. It was very humbling to stand in the same room where our beloved Prophet was killed. The door still had the bullet holes in it. The Prophet fell from the 2nd story window near the well.

Dad and I went through a session in the beautiful Nauvoo Temple and enjoyed wandering around town.

This is the beautiful Nauvoo Temple. Dad and I had the opportunity to go the 2nd week in September. Our tour was through Morris-Murdock and Bro. Hartman Rector was our guide. He was in the !st Quorum of Seventy and he had a lot of great stories about the Prophets and the 12 Apostles.

THE BLOOMING DESERT

The plants are still small, but blooming. It's been pretty hot (110), but thank goodness for air-conditioning and frozen yogurt. Nothing really to post, but I'm practicing blogging with pictures.

GRANDMA'S MINI ME

I found some pictures that you probably haven't seen yet. This is my new baby. It is easy to wash the roof and takes about 15 minutes. Dad and I went 110 miles per hour on a deserted highway. It could have gone faster, but I chickened out. He likes to drive it to the temple because it gets 37 miles per gallon. I'm sure that's the reason. Anyway, we both love it .

DESERT DWELLERS

The old folks are blogging now. We couldn't stand to be left behind technology-wise, so we jumped right in and hope it makes sense. Now I have to figure out how to get a picture on this blog.
